BASIC BUSHCRAFT/SELF RELIANCE (to quote Bear Grylls - Get You Out Alive).

This course is designed to strengthen your mental endurance and to give you the basics of camp
management, hunting, preparing animals for eating, fire starting.  It is an intensive course even though it is basic - you will be put through a real life scenario as if you were in that situation.  Even though these are basic bushcraft courses they are designed to simulate real-life situations, to teach you the methods of creating your own equipment from your surroundings or to teach you to apply basic techniques to any given scenario.

Cost £99 per person for a day's tuition from 10am to 4pm first weekend in April to last weekend in September.  Please contact Stuart via email or mobile for course details and timings.

TIMETABLE
 10-10.30 am - Rules for the day, health and safety, knife safety.
10.30-12.30 Shelter building -  A frame, lean to, cordage making
12.30 - 1.00 Lunch
1.00 - 2.30  Firebuilding - by friction, bow drill and hand drill.
                    Swedish Torch - basic torch making
2.30 - 3.00 Break and Questions
3.00 - 3.30 Basic hunting - snares and basic traps
3.30 - 4.00 Basic Tree Recognition
4.00  Review of the Day and Closure

My son is very interested in bush-craft and survival so we asked Stuart to come along and teach us some practical skills such as making shelters, basic knife work, making fire naturally and animal tracking.   Stuart obviously knows his stuff and was a good, patient but demanding teacher (no bad thing for a youngster IMO).  My son's comment on the day "it was interesting and fun and I learnt a lot of things".  We'll be doing more "dads and lads" stuff with Stuart next year.  Dave (49 ¾) and Elliot (9 ¾)

Great children's course 5 product stars
"Stuart did our son's birthday party and took a group of 9 year olds for an entire afternoon teaching them survival skills, fire making, shelter making/building then rounded it off by getting them to prepare then cook and eat the a healthy 'bushcraft' meal, topped off with toasted marshmallows!! Not only filled with lots of valuable information the kids also took a wooden peg home that they'd all whittled themselves........ We'd thoroughly recommend Stuart, he had the measure of the kids, engaged well with them and was very well prepared for the afternoon. Thank you Stuart......" David Bailey - 20/12/2015
